Our sorrows and wounds are healed only when we touch them with compassion.

Out of suffering have emerged the strongest souls;
the most massive characters are seared with scars.

To be beautiful means to be yourself.
You don’t need to be accepted by others.
You need to accept yourself.

Thank you for stopping by my website! I am a clinical psychologist in Guilford, CT, easily accessible from Madison, Branford, New Haven, and many other communities along the shoreline.

My clients are men and women who begin therapy describing the sense that something feels wrong. They are often frustrated that they don’t know what is going on or how to feel better. Many of my clients have experienced a specific trauma (e.g. combat, sexual assault, loss) or have experienced long lasting trauma or abuse (emotional, physical, and sexual). People who have experienced trauma often feel confused about their own experiences and, furthermore, struggle with trusting themselves and others. Therapy can bring clarity and hope.

I also work with women who are contemplating whether or not they wish to become mothers, and women in all stages of the perinatal and postpartum period. Motherhood is an intense time of transition, and personalized support through the experience can help. Sometimes women develop anxiety and mood disorders during pregnancy or the postpartum period. If this is happening to you or someone you know, please encourage them to visit a therapist to be assessed and potentially treated. Perinatal and postpartum mood and anxiety disorders are real, they can be very scary, and they are absolutely treatable.

Strong emotions can be triggered by time of transition, uncertainty, and change. Often times my clients have described feeling disconnected from who they are or what they want.  I have watched time and time again as clients learn to find and listen to their own voice, take strategic steps to honor themselves and their needs, and begin to heal.

If you have been struggling, I am here to help. Call me and let’s get started!
